NAME: Scott M. Sinnett

POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:

Dundee Township Highway Commissioner

1.  Why are you seeking this position?

I have been in the private sector my entire career. I am not a politician and I will bring quality business experience to the office. My goal is to save the taxpayers money as I am one of those tax payers. The highway department has a tremendous amount of equipment that is underutilized. My goal is to implement an intergovernmental agreement with the Dundee Township Supervisors office to share equipment and manpower and this will reduce taxpayer costs.

2.  What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I have been in the excavating/trucking business for 45 years. My father was the highway commissioner for Barrington Township and I know firsthand what is involved in the job. I have had my CDL-A licenses since I was 18 years old. I can operate ever piece of equipment and drive every truck the township has in the inventory. I have owned my own excavating company for 30 years, this includes managing budgets and employees along with negotiating the purchase of new equipment. During my 30 years I have installed roads, subdivisions, culverts and maintained, repaired, plowed and salted roads. I have also plowed, salted and maintained the secondary roads of Barrington Hills for six until they adopted an intergovernmental agreement with the Cuba Township Highway department.

3.  What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

My greatest challenge will be adjusting to an 8 hour work day as I am accustomed to a 12+ hour work day.
