NAME: Randy Hopp

POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:

Kane County Board District 22

1.  Why are you seeking this position?

After observing the Kane County Board function for the last 7 years, I am seeking to become a Kane County Board member to have the opportunity to actively serve not only all the people of my home Kane County Board District, District 22, but also all of the people of Kane County.

2.  What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

Lifelong resident of Elgin.
Resided at my current address within Kane County Board District 22 since 1986, for 30 years.
Served a four-year term as a Trustee on the Gail Borden Public Library District Board of Trustees, 2009-2013, for which also served as an Illinois Opens Meetings Act Officer, 2010-2013, for 3½ years.
Attended Kane County Board Meetings:
⦁ Committee of the Whole, 2009-Present, for 7 years.
⦁ Redistricting Task Force, 2010.
⦁ Full Board, 2015-Present.
⦁ Board of Public Health, 2015-Present.

3.  What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

The most important issue that the Kane County Board must deal with every fiscal year is the appropriation and budget for the many offices and departments of Kane County government. For the last 7 fiscal years and for the next fiscal year that I have observed the appropriations and budget process, the total of all the proposed budget requests from the offices and departments always exceeds the projected total revenue for Kane County. My greatest challenge if elected to the Kane County Board will be to find opportunities to get cooperation from public office holders and appointed department heads to reduce the increases in spending that some of them want and to minimize increasing taxes and fees on all the people of Kane County whom I serve.

Release for publication? YES

I will attend the forum? YES
