NAME: Ms. Cristina Castro

POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE A CANDIDATE:

22nd Legislative District Senator

1.  Why are you seeking this position?

I am passionate about Illinois and I believe we need a strong and experienced individual to serve the 22nd District. The inaction and political rhetoric is hurting Illinois and its people. We need to move our state forward, we need to put aside our differences and work to resolve the issues affecting our state. I will work in a bipartisan manner, as I currently do on the Kane County Board, because it should about be about issues and people first. We need to work together and reach fair compromises, if we can do that at the county board level, I know we can do that in Springfield.

2.  What experience and background do you have which qualifies you for this position?

I am a member of the Kane County and I’ve worked in a bipartisan manner to bring forth change, solve issues, and balance budgets on the board. Over the past five years, the county has held the line on taxes and spending without cutting essential services. I’m proud of that accomplishment and look forward to bringing that knowledge and experience to Springfield.

3.  What will be your greatest challenge if elected?

First and foremost challenges, will be to repair our financial and pension problems to improve our stability in order to make the state attractive to businesses.
