Voting

In partnership with the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and other sister organizations across the collar county area (Suburban Cook, DuPage and Kane Counties), the League of Women Voters of the Elgin Area is participating in the It’s My Vote: I Will be Heard campaign.

The target of this voter engagement campaign is Millennial women (ages 18 to 30). This partnership thus far has resulted in over 1,700 newly registered voters – the majority students at local community/commuter college campuses! Thank you to all LWVEA members who volunteered in this effort! Pledge cards (to vote) signed by students will be sent as reminders to actually vote just prior to election day.

Because the issues of college affordibiltiy and the economy (jobs) are the top polling issues of our targeted population, we decided to create voter guides for the Congressional Districts covering our collar county area. The guides can be found here:

Congressional District 6 (Roskam/Coolidge)

Congressional District 8 (Walsh/Duckworth)

Congressional District 11 (Biggert/Foster)

Congressional District 14 (Hultgren/Anderson)

A phone bank party is being planned for the last week of October and all are welcome who would like to assist new voters in how to vote (not whom to vote for). Members, watch your e-mail box or follow us on facebook for more details and plan to join us!
