Most of the people who vote are women – yet very few women occupy elected office.
LWVEA has teamed up with the Elgin YWCA to offer a program designed to prepare women for the challenges facing them in running for office at all levels government – including local Boards.
The first session on October 1st is FREE! Please register immediately so that adequate materials will be available. Sessions are open to everyone – not just women!
We’ve worked very hard to make this a real & factual program with strong, interesting, and insightful players who’ll lay the process bare.
Our introductory session panel will include Karen McConnaughay (Kane County Board Chair), Sue Harney (Dundee Township
Supervisor), Anna Moeller (Elgin City Council), Tish Powell (Elgin City council), Diane Robertson (Former City Clerk), Loni Mecum (Former City Clerk) & Kim Dewis (Current Elgin City Clerk).
While this first session if free (the others are well worth the $25/each), we do need a headcount so we have enough workbooks
(also complimentary), etc. to distribute.
